IMO, (and based on personal exp.) it sounds like "fear of the unknown" and you're letting your imagination take you for a ride.... STOP... start taking long slow breathes and focus on your body relax...

You should look into diaphragmatic breathing. Basically its breathing deep into your stomach rather than shallow in your chest. Also try to speak on the exhale to make sure you don't run out of breath...
