Yes! Our speech therapy (with a board certified fluency specialist who teaches me SO much every.single.session) is about “feeling in charge” of speech. My son has “tools he can choose to use” when he needs them. Hanging out at home? Who cares about tools and no one notices the stutter any more Oral presentation? Getting stuck? Tools are there to help. (I’m in the middle of fighting my district tooth and. Nail to keep services so I’m very riled up. I HATE these people that deny services to kids who require them. I do not know what my advocacy will look like when I’m done but I will turn every tear, every frustration and all of my anger into something beautiful that will help many more families)
