OP my first thought was the nurse practitioner should not be in the healthcare industry. I would find out who the nurse practitioner supervisor is and give them a call. She needs as well as the entire department needs to be reeducated that stuttering is a medical condition. OP, me personally I do not back down when it comes to a person mocking me about me being a person who stutters. I know globally the number of stutters their are are extremely low, but a remark and how they treated you especially when there in the healthcare industry and see disabilities of all types daily adds that extra fuel in my mind towards anger. Call up the department on Monday and find out who is the department manager. Ask for there email address. Or OP, if you are the RARE stammer that LOVES :-) speaking on the telephone, then have at it.
