You don't know how it started, because that's not knowledge that's available. It's not something you did yourself. So, you're not going to get anything out of pursuing that idea, let alone becoming convinced that you've understood the origin of it. Perhaps with future research such routes become readily available to us. - Professional speech therapy is definitely the way forward, as opposed to merely reading about stuff on the net. But I understand that some countries don't want to give that sort of thing to its citizens for free, and that's a bloody shame. This is why those "quick fix options" are much more prevalent... and yet, they aren't reliable. - I hope you get better at managing your stutter regardless - just don't become too certain of an understanding or a behavior, in so far as it's scrounged up outside of professional channels... :)
