Thank you, this is advice I really needed. I've had a hard time telling people I have a stutter without making a conversation awkward. I will definitely be using that like to start out all presentations I have to give from here on out, be them professional or academic. I'll be sure to pick up a copy of that book as well; my 10-year-old niece has a stutter too (albeit not so bad yet), and I know it will help her. Do you have any advice for brief conversations? I am currently working in an advising office as a secretary and I have to take short phone calls and have 1 minute conversations with students and professors. I've already made it clear to most of the staff ("Bear with me, I have a stutter"), but it's a lot harder with students I only see once. Any ideas?
