r/Stutter, how do you control your emotions when you're facing blocks or a stressful situation? Basic story: I'm 23, I've been stuttering since I was 11. In the past nine months I've seen a therapist and I feel like I'm prepared with the right tools and techniques to physically stop the out of control stuttering (or the endless 'ummm's since I'm very covert by nature.) The only thing is recently I can't help getting really overemotional when I speak. I know exactly what I should be doing, so when I think I've "mucked something up" or I badly block I can't help really feeling like crying from the frustration. Does anyone else do this? I've just started a new romantic relationship (wowza! haha) but the pressure I put on myself to be fluent, even though they don't mind, in front of them makes it all the worse as well. TLDR; *How does anyone get yourself relaxed or 'in the zone' enough to not let your emotions get in the way of speech?*
