There is hope, I know it's scary, but at the same time, try to remember all the other terrible stuff that can happen to our kids lol. A stutter ends up falling pretty low on my list, all things considered. I don't remember any talk about neurologists. But I wouldn't write it off if professionals are suggesting it. Worst case scenario, it's a waste of time cuz your kid doesn't need it. But it could uncover something that makes your journey easier. Good luck, stay strong
