First step is to get confortable with the fact that you are a person who stutters as this will allow to study and work on it in a more emotionally detached manner. Just being able to bring it up in conversations with friends or at work is such a huge relief, no more "hiding" and shame. Only from here can you start making real progress in my opinion.
