YTA. You’re not helping him out by implying that he should give up on speaking, which he can do, in favor of a crutch. This is akin to just telling him to sing everything or carry a pencil and notepad around. He can speak fine, people just need to calm their tits and actually wait for him to finish saying what he wants to without offering unhelpful advice. You already mentioned you don’t know anything about stuttering or stammering so here’s some advice from someone who does; let the kid talk. If it takes him 5 minutes to say his name, it takes 5 minutes. And look someone who stutters in the same place you look at everyone else. Yeah, it’s gonna be uncomfortable for YOU the first few times it takes longer than you expect, but that’s on you. Not on him.
