Sorry if you read that as me attacking you! I wasn't. I just want to make sure other people don't read your story and think there is some miraculous cure to stuttering. Personally, the knowledge that it is a brain difference meant the world to me--it gave me freedom from the burden of thinking that something I was doing was causing me to stutter. I think it's really great that you were able to learn so much about stuttering! What you describe I've heard as "mindfulness." Usually when people stutter (at least in my case) they tend to panic and lose what little control they had; but by paying attention to what is happening with your body you can get that control back! Full disclosure; I am also a speech pathology graduate student as well as a stutterer. I am always interested to hear what works for people, whether or not it involves actual therapy :)
