Because it seems like it was preventing you like crazy 5 months ago. The aggro alpha thing might work for bro-y situations, but when someone's laughing at you for stuttering, or dismissing what you're saying, or looking at you as if you're mentally disturbed, the whole psychological domination thing goes right out the window. A little less posturing, and a bit more empathy would be a good thing.
