so, i started reading "it" by stephen king, and the main character in the book stutters. a lot of the observations about stuttering are actually pretty accurate (except for the killer clown hiding in the sewer!). the one suggestion a speech therapist gives him is to think of his middle name when he introduces himself. i thought that was an interesting concept to distract you from the anticipation of saying the dreaded word, i want to try it out. i started a new job a year and a half ago -- of course my stuttering became more pronounced, lots of saying my name. i guess all i will say is it just gets easier, the blocks become less pronounced, now i say it with just a little hesitation. i'm guessing it will become more difficult again once i stop having to say my name so often, but now it's not that bad. that first week it felt like an insurmountable challenge! so, i guess i'm saying that the stutter is probably unavoidable but you won't die, you'll get through it and it will get more natural and easier as you continue. good luck!
