I'd ask your kid if they enjoy it or see value in this and if they don't, I'd get a new therapist. I did all this fluency shaping stuff growing up and it was unhelpful, bordering on detrimental. What muttly says is right. Those are good questions to ask, but you can probably guess what the answers will be. I'd ask your kid if he finds the stuff helpful jn his day to day life. Is it working? If not, I'd find someone who doesn't do fluency shaping. It's already becoming outdated. Anyway to answer your question, everyone has different goals individual to themselves. For me, the goal was to be able to communicate comfortably and authentically. Without fear or apprehension. Fluency shaping was counter productive in this regard for me.
