(No need to go private, if you don't mind.) I look at it like this: We have visitors in here who are all about that "overcoming" angle. But some of them seemingly won't acecpt that stutter isn't the same for all, and hence, not everyone's able to "overcome" it. I think it's a bad idea to liken it to a disease that needs a cure, in that one stutterer might not benefit from what worked for another stutterer. Success stories are anecdotal in nature, and we shouldn't focus on them, to the point where we forget that other stutterers might not be able to achieve the same degree of success. I'm not saying it isn't a splendid thing that e.g. you got a hang of your stutter - I can appreciate how good it must feel, believe me! - it's just that I think we would be better off as a _community_ if we remind each other that stutterers aren't all the same, and their options might not be the same either. Their _results_ might vary wildly, in other words. We need to be realistic about what stutter amounts to, not just share the stories we think present the desired reality.
