Yes, I’m a Regional Director making $130k a year. I sit in weekly round table meetings (that always do the dreaded name introductions) and have to present frequently. I would say my stutter is mild to moderate depending on the communication environment and my general well-being (getting enough sleep, taking care of myself mentally and physically). Over the years, in addition to doing speech therapy for two years, what has helped me was not to focus on perfect speech all the time but how I manage my own emotions and coping skills around stuttering. I use to replay stuttering moments like a broken record, but I truly now am able to let it go and not attach any negative emotions to it. I genuinely feel it’s helped improve my speech drastically. I don’t stutter as much now, but when I do or have a block, it happens and then I carry on with my day. I do a darn good job at what I do, others recognize that and that’s what I continue to focus on with my position. I would even say that my stutter has played a large part in my management skills, I connect very well with people and can empathize easily with others. Don’t let a stutter hold you back! Or label yourself as a Stutterer, you have a stutter along with all your amazing skillsets and attributes. Go for it!
