Even though he's been a bit of a dick to me about it, and it'd be super satisfying to drop him down a peg with the reality of the situation, I really just want him to be happy, so whatever. Still, though, sounds ridiculous. And I don't think a few stray "um"s are necessarily terrible. The problem with his word choices are that excessive "like"s come off as air-headish, and "actually" is a juuuust specific enough word that the pattern becomes very noticeable, very quick.
