How should I approach interacting with a student who stutters?

How should I approach interacting with a student who stutters? I teach college and I have a student with a pronounced stutter. Sometimes I Will look something up rather than force him to, for example, read the question out. My intent there is to not force him to speak when he’s having trouble. But sometimes, I feel like not letting him finish is rude also. I just don’t want to be a jerk. Any advice? Thanks!
