I used to try to avoid words that I anticipated would be difficult to say and try to substitute them for other words. It only worked for a short time before either 1) all words seemed difficult and 2) when plotting out a sentence I'd have too many versions of the sentence in mind at the same time. In any case I'm a better writer and a really good editor because of it.
