I actually just went to the Doctor to talk to them about my anxiety, how it affects my stuttering/blocking, and all that good stuff. I was using Xanax for awhile to help -- it did really well at first -- but the effectiveness of it did not last long. The prospect of upping a dose of Xanax wasn't sitting too well with me due to potential for addiction, so I went back to my doctor. I told her I was starting self-therapy for my stuttering and was looking at taking medicine on a consistent basis since I felt like my anxiety was slowly getting out of control and was affecting different aspects of my life -- not just my stuttering. I'm beginning Celexa and plan to use that in-tandem with the self-help guidebook posted on this subreddit. So tl;dr, I would not recommend benzos like Xanax long-term -- especially if your stuttering is coupled with social anxiety. I also heavily recommend looking at the self-help guide posted in another thread on this sub. :)
