For me it made the whole difference. You might be shocked to find out how much of the anxiety comes from that desire to hide the stutter or to avoid stuttering in order to not look "weird". Once it's out, it's out, and it's significantly easier to not only relax, but more importantly, to connect with others. Night-time venues like clubs I have always found tough personally. When I start talking and hit a stutter, the frequent perception is that I sound this way because I am drunk haha. I'm sure a lot of stutterers get that too. What I have done though is such environments in the past is start the interaction off by saying "Hey, before I say anything else, just so you know, I'm not drunk (with a smile) I have a stutter. Anyway, how is your night going so far?". Try it out next time you go out :)
