Imo, you are looking at it the wrong way. You can be a better father to your son by being a role-model to him and encourage him to accept his stuttering. There is a very good chance that you passed it down to your son due to genetics. It's not a bad thing at all because your son also has the good qualities of you and his mother. You have a direct impact on how he views his stuttering. I would encourage you to find a therapist who can have you and your son in sessions so he can see how you deal with it and that he can look up to you when he needs reassurance.
