b c d f g h j k l m n p q r s t v w x y z For example; "cat". Cat has a hard /k/ sound. By softening that hard /k/ your vocal cords are less likely to spasm. At least that's how I remember it being explained to me. It took me a lot of time and effort to perfect this, but I was able to do it. I still stutter, don't get your hopes up, but I can carry on a normal conversation for the most part.
