I'd recommend having therapy. The biggest difference for me having therapy as a kid and now is that I try more now. Back then I didn't want to face it, I just hid from it. Now I want to do something about it I can. As far as techniques go, in therapy we focus on slowing down, vocal fold management and fixing breathing patterns. As a kid we focused mainly on individual sounds. I think therapy for adults now has a more holistic approach
