When I was in college doing my Speech class as part of Gen Ed, I was able to talk to the professor and she allowed me to do speeches gradually. I started with only her in the room, then the next speech was her and about 5 classmates, then up to 10 and then the whole class. It helped me tremendously and I oddly got an A! You may be able to do the same type of thing. Speak with your counselor within you major, explain your situation and come up with a plan. They don't want to see you fail and you can generally come up with a good compromise.
