Is your stutter talked about with your family?

Is your stutter talked about with your family? My family has never mentioned my stutter to me, it’s never a topic of discussion. The only memory I have was in second grade my older brother said my mom had told him I stutter because I can’t find the word I’m looking for in my head (which is a lame reasoning but that’s beside the point) My family is not very open with each other and I think they don’t bring it up to me because they think it’s rude or will hurt my feelings, but all it’s done is made me hide it and feel even more embarrassed about it. Is this a common thing with other people?
