Been there! I've found acceptance and understanding when I let people know about my stutter. I'll speak and if I start to stutter I say "Sorry I have a speech impediment" and they are like, that's cool, don't apologize. I also use humor which helps me feel like I'm in on the joke and not the butt of it!
