For me personally, the best way for me to start building confidence was to just jump like when diving into a pool. I’m not saying immediately start doing public speaking, but start off with little, yet large steps. Try going to a fast food place and placing an order. This could be in a drive through if you don’t feel comfortable looking at someone while talking. Or be the first to start a conversation with family and friends. Whatever you decide to do, keep it simple. It takes practice so try to speak as often as you can. Don’t overthink your conversations. I know this is all easier said than done, but in time it will get easier. And don’t worry about anyone’s judgement. I guarantee, as long as you’re polite, employees don’t mind helping. If they look irritated, it’s just because they probably hate their job lmao I also found that phone calls are good practice since you don’t have to look at the other person. I know many people don’t like talking on the phone for various reasons, but it does help for someone like me who hates texting. If you decide to fake it till you make it, that helps a lot as well. Pretend you’re the most confident person in the world. You can do this by walking tall with your back straight and head high. Speaking confidently will come later when you are more comfortable with your appearance Good luck! I know you got this! Everyone has a right to confidence
