Oof! I understand this. I knew that reading to others was always a consistent problem, so for my baseline, I would read. And each session I would read to her and we would work on strategies. As I pointed out here, my first therapist was ineffective; my second one was so effective that I decided to become an SLP myself. For what it’s worth, my first therapist was similar to your experience, it’s when I got my second therapist that I started reading out loud because I knew that was a problem we could work on easily because my disfluency was more prominent.
