I've only ever met another stutterer in the wild once. Prior to that, I had only ever met other stutterers at a National Stuttering Association meeting. I was really shocked by how mild mine was in comparison. I even found myself mentally saying some of the things I've heard myself (Spit it out, Slow down.. etc. etc.). It was really shocking each time. To be honest, I felt really uncomfortable and never went back. A mixture of feeling like I didn't belong, social anxiety, and shame? It seems to be so rare. (I know it's really not, but when you're the only one you've ever known..)
