Later 50's here and I managed to block words over the years. Most people have no idea that I stutter because of my blocking. I can remember the school years dealing with therapists. They do care, but what they are taught is nothing like what we deal with.(Back in my day they had you read Jack and Jill went up the hill over and over again LOL) I felt like I was forever in elementary school. I can stutter a bit if I'm tired and my SO and kids pick up on it and joke. I'm 100% ok with joking from my friends and family :)
