Stuttering as a speech trait Okay so I wanted to make this post in order to create maybe a debate on the views of you guys, as people who stutter, and your perspectives about it. I will start. I stutter since I was a child. It has always been mild to moderate I’d say but it was worse during high school and college. It didn’t affect that much my social interactions but it held me from being as extroverted as I wanted or spontaneous, in various social groups: friends, classmates, etc. I’m 25 now and since last year I’m volunteering in a non profit in my country and my own perspective about my stutter has changed a lot. I used to see it as something I had to elimine, to overcome, now I see it as a trait of my speech. To be honest, learn to see it that way has helped me to regulate my emotions around it and how I react and feel when I stutter. Also, I’d say that I stutter way less than before. That is my current experience and how I am doing right now. I hope you can comment about yours!
