My intimidation of stuttering is keeping me from fully participating in conversation, any advice? I've had a varying stutter for as long as I could remember now (18M). During some months, the stutter is incredibly minor, only tripping over the occasional word, other months I STRUGGLE to get a four word sentence out without it taking 10-15 seconds to say. I'm starting to notice what words I will stutter on even before I say the sentence, but I am not sure whether this is an instance of learning my stutter habits or merely a self fulfilling profecy. Due to this foresight in stuttering however, I've noticed that there is this difficult barrier to surmount when I have something to say, even due by phrases as trivial as, "Hey how are things going?". I know the sentence will be rough, so I choose not to speak. But this is growing to become more frequent, keeping me rather quiet in the conversation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to hate my social life.
