I have had a severe stutter most of my life. My 7 year old daughter speaks beautifully. More importantly she listens and waits patiently if I am blocking because that is what she is expected to do. Your children will respond to expectations. Also, I wouldn't be concerned about urgent matters. I think you will be amazed at how resourceful a lifetime of stuttering can make someone.
