Hope I'm not too late in this thread! Background: I’m working in a corporate sales team in a bank currently. It’s a sales job, just like yours. Our clients are Finance Managers / CFOs of multi-national companies. I thought it was ironic that I got a job with lots of phone time, seeing how terrified I was speaking out loud all throughout school. But hey, I’ve always been a risk taker ;) Tips: - Don’t make a script: Knowing that you will have to follow the script will give you anxiety. Rather, write down bullet points of important information you could like to share. This gives you the flexibility to replace words, pause when you want to, use filler words, etc. - Relax: Knowing that the other person can’t see you, will allow you to possible adopt your own coping mechanism. For me, I was free to use hand gestures when I spoke on the phone, which was a way to distract me from the anxiety of speaking. Perhaps a stress ball? Whatever you like. - Enjoy yourself: Look forward to speaking on the phone. Every call you make is one call closer to closing that sale. Most importantly, reward yourself for a job well done!
