I acted in The Nerd by Larry Shue. At the time I had a pretty good consistent stutter. Very noticeable. I played Mr. Walgrave, an older kind of grumpy character. I graveled my voice up as needed and if I stuttered, I made it part of the character. It’s not about the stutter, it’s about how you can use it to your advantage in theatre. And you’ll find you’re gonna gain a lot of respect from your peers because they know you’re going for it despite the challenge. Never let it keep you from doing what you want. And remember…those that mind, don’t matter and those that matter, don’t mind. Go for it. Make it your concentrated goal. You’ll be happy you did.
