IANAL, but I'm an SLP who has had many many lawyers as clients. All specialties, everything from in-house paper-pushing to litigation. Switching words (for those who rely on that) is not really an option in many scenarios. Arguments may have time limits. Ultimately, those who I've seen have amazing careers are those who are able to say, "Well, I guess people are going to see me stutter, here goes," and get on with their work. It gets easier with time. But it can be VERY hard at first. Support makes a big difference in getting through the early years.
