You don't stutter when you're drunk the same reason you woke up with that tribal tattoo on your face; alcohol affects neurotransmitters (GABA/Glutamate/Dopamine) in the brain that regulate how you feel, think and act. How you may feel, think and act about your stutter — or anything else for that matter — will be substantially different when you're under the influence. 2 semesters ago I had a Public Speaking class and occasionally before every speech I had to give, I would hit up this bar across the street from it and take a shot. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else, but sometimes it helped relax me. The key here is to change how you feel, think and act about your stutter all the time, not just when you're tipsy.
