I am not young anymore an have been dealing with stuttering for decades now. For most part successfully. And I agree with the OP far more than I agree with you. One of the big issues of stuttering is the feed back loop of our emotions. The more anxiety you feel about it worse your stuttering gets, a they you feel even worse anxiety. That dosent mean “thinking positively” will cure your stuttering. But we would all do good to learn how not to let stuttering affect us emotionally. It dose help tremendously both for how fluent you are as well as your general mental health. For me stuttering was a blessing as much as a curse. So I definitely don’t consider my self “disabled”. Yes I had to practice far more than ordinary person and be far far better prepared. But that also meant I was always better prepared and skilled then those around me and today I am their boss, thanks to my stutter.. And and also my favorite.. if you laugh at me when I say my name, I at least least know right a way that you are not a person worth my time or efforts. Instead I use my time for people who I know deserve to be in my life. Positivity won’t fix all your problems. But it sure won’t cause any problems unlike negativity.
