I think it's pretty common knowledge that the vast majority of stutterers grow out of it just before adulthood. So I wouldn't confuse your adolescent hijinks with helping you end your stutter. Stuttering is much more common in people 18 and younger than it is with adults. Most people grow out of it, a small minority (which I unfortunately belong to) keep it for the rest of their lives. If you remain with it as an adult, there's no real cure and speech therapy treatment can only help so much. I took speech therapy for many years and I don't think it really did a thing. The only concrete thing I gained was a "trick" that my speech therapist taught me to make a clicking sound with my tongue on the roof of my mouth in order to help me form sounds that I block on. It works a little but, but when it doesn't I'm stuck there as a mute making weird clicking noises repeatedly.
