Speech therapy did help me, but not in the way you might think. I did learn several techniques to overcome blocks, but a big part of speech therapy was practicing stuttering and dealing with the emotions afterwards. In short, learn how to not care. I can't speak for how speech therapy is done everywhere, so it may be vastly different from therapist to therapist, but at least back when I had therapy 15 years ago there was a big focus on learning to live with it and not as much learning "tricks" to hide it.
