Absolutely. All the speech therapists I've ever seen focus on techniques and breathing methods. In hindsight I think I would be in a better position now if, when a child, speech therapists had focused on the psychological and anxiety by-products that result from stammering, as person above says. It comes back to the 'ice-berg' thing; the actual stammer is only a small part of what it is like to be someone who stammers; it goes a whole lot deeper. I think sorting out the psychological and anxiety aspects should be the priority.
