Morning radio show in my town made fun of stuttering today. Driving in my car this morning, a comedy show on a local classic rock station had this bit that was supposed to be a parody of The King's Speech, where King George is talking to his pet parrot who is imitating his stutter and he's getting frustrated. The radio DJs were laughing hysterically. This royally pissed me off (pun intended). I haven't felt directly made-fun-of for my stutter since high school, and though as a society we were better than that nowadays. You wouldn't make fun of someone with down syndrome, why would you make fun of stuttering? Or any other disability? Just wanted to share my grievances.
