Everything you mentioned is great advice and so informative. thanks for sharing. All of these replies has made me excited to get into seeing him in person more after his exams, and with what you mentioned, it’ll be good to practice being a better listener. Thanks for the rec as well. It’s a great idea to work on improving other things. There are a few things like fitness and finance that he would probably take to pretty quickly which could spur him into feeling motivated about the less fun things. It’d be great to see him feeling more in control of more of his space and life. How awesome is meditating! I saw your post and agreed with it wholeheartedly at the time. I’m so glad it’s been so helpful for you—it’s been such a help for me and my MTD (muscle tension dysphonia/excess engagement of muscles around jaw/tongue/neck/shoulders that then impact speech production). It’s great to feel in control of a few symptoms. It’d be great to introduce this to my bro, thank you for suggesting it. I can’t believe how thoughtful/patient everyone has been in their recommendations. I feel like I have a clearer idea of what’s important, and for my brother, a job and uni should not come before self confidence and a feeling of capability. Thanks for contributing to the picture—it’s been so invaluable.
