No I think schizophrenia is an actual psychological disorder with a psychiatric nature. It is essentially a disorder in the brain. Stuttering is different. Psychological and emotional factors affect and exacerbate stuttering and it's behaviors, but they are not the cause or the source. I dont know if we know the actual cause of stuttering, but it's likely a combination of genetic factors and some miscommunication in the brain with speech producing muscles. Psychological factors are not **responsible** for this. You might get better answers in r/slp, but a lot of slps have very limited knowledge in stuttering. Hopefully other people chime in, but I can confidently say stuttering is not a psychological disorder. In fact, it's an undue stigma and misinformation we're trying to correct.
