16 is around the age to have a man to man conversation with him. Tell him you want to talk to him, and that you want him to listen. That it's not a discussion. I'm sure there's been plenty of times in your life where he talked to you and expected you to listen. As you mature, it's time for those types of talks to go both ways. I was much older when I finally let my day know that I grew up afraid of him. It's an important conversation to have. No parent wants to have their child fearful of them. But many of us end up not realizing how are parenting is received.
