Ah that's tough, yeah blocks are shit. There's no other way to put it, they're just shit. Have you tried softening your starting letters? That helped me a lot. So basically instead of saying something like 'sofa' I would say 'sssofa' and sound it out a bit. Not all the time obviously, just when I get really stuck on a word. Might be worth a shot.
