I do not stutter but my wife does. I actually never thought that my wife's speech would be an "issue" - we meshed, fell in love and now live our lives together. Also, I had (probably still have) dyslexia as a kid I went to a school for kids with learning disabilities I remember there were some kids who also stuttered (not to say those who stuttered ALL have learning disabilities) but I guess from an early age I was never "intimated" by those who stutter. However, my wife is pregnant with our first child (our baby girl is due this summer) and stuttering is a genetic thing with my wife and there might be a chance of our child might stutter HOWEVER how cool and comforting is it that if our child does have an speech issue she can be helped and aided by her mom who has the same thing. (btw, my wife has been stuttering more frequently since her pregnancy and she said it's because of nerves and also some minor breathing issues - which is normal for those who are carrying a child).
