If it's persistent it sounds like it might be a stutter, but it's incredibly rare for a stutter to develop that late into adulthood. It might just be nervousness or anxiety like you said, but i'm no expert on the matter. Stuttering typically develops in early childhood and there are structural and functional differences in the brains of people who stutter.
