My experience with speech therapy in Sydney was disappointing. My stutter is very severe around people but when I am alone or when i am talking to AI like chatgpt call i am 100% fluent mine was self funded, in 2022 it was 200$ for 45 mins sessions per week (the medicare only covers 5 sessions per year) otherwise you have to register with a ndis provider (not sure how it works) but my therapist told that this was an option. tried it for 6 months, they will probably put you on a programme called “the camperdown programme” where you have to slow down your speech to the maximum and then work on normalisation of speech, i tried it for 7 months with intensive practice but in real life situations in didn’t work If you can afford paying 200$ a week then give it a go even though finding a good adult speech therapist in Australia seems challenging because most of them are interested in helping kids as you said and this what they were trained to do, but make sure to choose one who have experience in stuttering in adults otherwise it will be a waste of money
