Found out I have more fluency when I adopt an accent, now it's become a part of my speech Here's a lighthearted one for you today. It started with me practicing an Irish accent with friends while having some beers. I found that accents trick my brain into stuttering less as it's a different way of approaching the same cursed word but using different motor movements. There's something about the sing-songy cadence of an Irish accent that makes speaking just flow. After years of this, what started as a funny, mocking Irish accent has bled into me actual bloody speech patterns. And it's not even a good Irish accent. For reference, I am an Asian dude. I am also realizing that any TV show that I watch, I sort of start to copy that accent without realizing it. Prime example: Peaky Blinders. It's weird. But whatever it takes right?
